The daily 'bookends'...

I thought I'd write and give you a bit of an idea of how I start and end my day. The bits in between are a bit different depending on the weather, the day of the week and who's in town etc.

My day usually starts with a 3/4am wake up call from my belly, which hasn't been filled since 10/10.30pm the night before. Mum's never really too keen for photos at that time - she can have pretty crazy bed hair and the light isn't great. Well - there is no light as the sun hasn't even begun to rise!

Then I wake at about 6/7am for more 'food'. Yes I am a growing boy! I am always so happy to see Mum come and get me, so I give her the biggest smile of the day here. She reckons it is priceless.  After that feed I sometimes sit outside in the garden to look at the trees while Mum hangs washing - then once I've sufficiently digested we have a bit of tummy time.

As you can see from these pictures - I'm getting much better. I used to hate being face planted...but now my neck muscles are much stronger so I can look around. These days I even smile, usually because Mum is smiling at the grunting noises I make! Regardless, it is more fun now than it used to be.

The middle of the day varies a bit - sometimes we go out, sometimes we play at home. But one of the best bits of the day is when Dad gets home.

Mum usually has me fed and napped up so that we can get straight into some serious boy fun time. Weather permitting it usually includes some more time out under the trees for nappy free time.

At around 5/6pm we start to wind down for the day. It usually starts with a bath or a shower. I'm almost too big for my bath tub and will have to get upgraded into the big-people's tub soon. There's less room to splash and 'swim' around.

The shower is loads of fun. It took me a while to get used to it. At first Dad put the pressure down quite low, but now I'm used to the water spray and I don't mind it up a bit higher.

Once I'm dressed - I get a big feed. I've started getting a formula bottle at this time of the day. The only problem I have with it is that I can't get it fast enough out of the bottle! The other day we could hear it all sloshing around in my belly when I was getting 'burped'. I can put it away alright!
Then finally it is sleep time. Mum and Dad are trying to teach me how to fall asleep unassisted at the moment. I'm pretty good during the day, but when it comes to night time I can be a bit more grizzly!

We'll eventually get there anywhere between 7 - 8.30pm and while I snooze while Mum and Dad have some quiet time together.

Dancing Eddie

Unfortunately I am not techno-savvy enough to rotate this little film clip the right way...please send me tips and hints if you know! Hope you still enjoy it!

PS - the sound in the background is a maraca. (Thank you Mabees!)

How good are holidays?!

Well, Christmas came and went. It all happens so fast!

I have to admit that I did sleep through most of Christmas day though. Including the present opening in the morning, lunch and dinner (is there really any more to Christmas that those activities!?). This meant that everyone could all eat together - so I think I was considered an angel for timing my naps like that!

Some people are so easily pleased! :)

I was up for long enough to have a good cuddle with Aunty Kate though!
I brought up my lunch all over my first outfit, so had a costume change for Christmas dinner. I'm 'dressed by Paw-Paw' for both outfits!

Holidays are so much fun, because every one is around 24hrs a day, 7 days a week. As you can see from the photo on the left, Dad really enjoyed it too. Don't look too carefully, or you'll spot his tonsils!

My very first visit to the beach was a bit windy, so I did the only thing I could think of in such conditions - rug up against Mum's chest and go to sleep. In this picture I'm still a bit uncertain. The only wind I trust normally exits my bottom.

I'm getting more comfortable with sitting upright as my neck muscles are getting stronger, but I still need to lean up against something.
Talk about a big two weeks! I'm still in shock. A nice shock that is. Life is just getting better and better! I even attended my first wedding last weekend. (Congrats Kate and Nick!)

Here's a list of my 'firsts' from the last two weeks:

First ...
- Christmas
- Mailer family holiday
- time away from home
- time sleeping in my port-a-cot
- time at the beach
- wedding
- lengthy car ride
- consecutive 38+ degree days

...and to think I'm only 10 weeks old!

Since coming home, Mum and Dad have moved my cot into my room and I'm sleeping alone in there! There's another thing to add that to the list of firsts! Being away is loads of fun, but gee it's nice to be home!

Pre-festive fun

We've been very busy in the lead up to Christmas! Apparently a strange phenomenon occurs in December where everyone tries to squeeze everything in before the 'end of the year'! Well we did our fair share of catching up and organising too. There were pressies to buy, lunches to share, cuddles to be had. Not to mention getting ready for my first holiday.

We are going to Scone for Christmas, followed by a week on the coast at MacMasters Beach. I haven't been that far from home before and for such a long time too! I am looking forward to it very much.

Here are some pictures from the recent week...

Below, hanging out with my Mothers Group friends.

It's so much fun ... I'm all smiles.

I even met the infamous Lord Gordo who is in Sydney for Christmas and New Year. We spent some quality time talking about South-East Asia, as he is living in Malaysia.

I can't believe how fast I'm growing. Here we thought we might compare the size of my head and hands with Dad's. Ok..I'm not growing quite THAT fast!

The world is certainly an interesting place with lots of wonderful things to look at. Right now my favourite past time is trying to string a 'sentence' together with the limited number of sounds I know. It seems to makes people smile at me and they talk back to encourage me I think. I am very happy to return the smiles.

Wishing everyone a very happy and safe Christmas. Hope the new year brings you all much joy and frivolity.

Stay tuned for the next update. My first Christmas!

Red Eggs and Ginger

This weekend the Woo and Mailer families celebrated my one month birthday. In chinese custom this is the 'Red Egg and Ginger' celebration. Everyone came to Sydney to cuddle me and ... well ... eat red eggs and ginger!  The eggs we supplied by Granny and Grandpa Mailer's chooks in Scone and they were delicious. Great family effort.

Traditionally this is the time parents announce the baby's name - but of course mine was announced earlier in my life! You maybe wondering how my middle name came about. My parents wanted to use my Mum's surname as the generation marker, just like my second cousin James Wu Shen Bignell. I was very lucky to have a number of people in Perth AND Singapore to help find my middle name - Woo-Zhi - which means integrity and determination.

This is me in a VERY special christening gown that is around 100 years old and completely hand stitched. My Daddy was christened in it, as was my Great Grandma!

Another costume change for dinner. It was my first restaurant dining experience and I was soooo well behaved. I fell asleep in a corner of the action-packed Marigold Chinese Restaurant!

What a couple of weeks!

It's been a busy busy couple of weeks! Paw Paw (Ma Woo) has been visiting and has been looking after all our culinary needs with five-star class! I've only experienced it 'second-hand' but it's been pretty yum! We've also had a steady flow of visitors and I've been working hard at developing my social skills.

So many people to cuddle me... so little time!

1. New booties from Aunty George and Uncle Parish. Thanks - they are too funky for words. (Not that I know any words at the moment!)

2. Morning exercises. Keeping my legs lean and mean by a few hundred air bicycle reps.

3. Entertaining my future girlfriend - Juno. I tried my best material on her. It needs a bit of work, but I was just so distracted with her ultra-cool hooded jumper. Here in this pic, I'm trying to hold her hand. Juno is acting like she doesn't care .. but she's really thinking 'We are so in-sync. Red stripes are the new black.'

(Sorry Zoe, we'll just at different stages in our lives.)

3. *yawn* So much action. I'm ready for a snooze.

4. *sigh* Now that's what I'm talkin' about!
