Numero Uno

Yep. One year old. I am officially a toddler!

Hard to believe it but 12 months ago I was 3.65kg (I'm now 10.5kg!!) and my life was a continual cycle of eat, sleep and poo. Now I can fit so much more into the day! Don't worry - I still do plenty of those three things!!

I enjoyed plenty of spoils on my birthday. First there was cake.

And that included was icing sugar for the first time. Mmmmm!!

Then came pressies! Mum made plenty of visits to the post office that week! Thank you. I am so very very lucky!!! (Yes - and spoilt!)

Then came playing with the presents!!

I even helped Dad with some serious instruction reading and construction!

Then came the walking!

...and now you can't stop me. I'll use anything I can put my hands on to help me!

Time flies when you're having fun!

WOW! October 17th was my last entry. Shame on me for taking so long to catch you up on the great many things that have been happening in MY life! :)

Lets first start with some very special visits from the Mailers. This time Granny and Grandpa brought Aunty Kate too! And that meant presents!!

We took off up the coast to a lovely place called Mercedes Cove. It's about 50kms south of Cape Leveque and run by a lovely couple Dave and Pat Channing. We don't want to tell too many people, because it is a beautiful place. Small (two houses/cabins and some camping spots) and very peaceful..and we were the only people there! Talk about star treatment!

The cabin had two double bunk beds with mossie nets on the front verandah area. So it was like sleeping outside! Beautiful!

We saw lots of whales (even though it was late in the season), Dad caught some fish off the beach, plenty of swimming and a tonne of relaxing! Mum and Dad went snokelling and saw heaps of fish, a couple of stingrays and Mum even saw a small shark!

Pat and Dave were great hosts. We see them around Broome all the time now. Such lovely people!

Massive photo catch up

Well - I mentioned there was lots to catch up on...

1. Fathers Day at Town Beach.

2. Black Arm Band played on Male Oval as part of the Shinju Matsuri Festival. Many Shinju Matsuri public events were cancelled this year due to the local Council's action against Broome's sister city Taiji in Japan. Check out 'The Cove' if you want a better idea of the controversy. Many locals with deep Japanese heritage (many with specific Taiji links) were left feeling hurt and/or angered. There is still a bit of healing going on now.

Anyway, luck for us, the Black Arm Band was NOT one of the events cancelled! It was a TOP show...and a great night out! I saw most of it, then fell asleep for a bit on Dad's shoulder. I woke up for the end of it as we walked home to the tune that Zoe and Winnos sang at Mum and Dad's wedding!

3. This guy, Macca, came to town and pulled a big crowd at the local ABC Radio studio one early Sunday morning. Although not as big a crowd as the Black Arm Band! And definitely a different demographic!

4. Random 'all about me' shots...

5. I love helping out with the laundry. Sorting the whites from the colours ain't such great fun...but pressing the buttons on the machine and trying to climb into the machine is most excellent!

6. My fave lady on the airwaves, Miranda, left town and headed back to Darwin. We shared one more drink. Beer for the lady, milk all the way for me. You can see that my conversation-making wasn't that fabulous at this point in the night. Secretly, inside, I was devastated she was leaving, we had such a great day out at Mud Footy earlier in the season.

6. We still try and get to the beach as much as possible. Kite surfers are out in full force now with the stronger winds. Mum gets a bit worried that a kite surfer will lose control of the big heavy sail and they'll come crashing down on our head! So we try and stay clear. It's pretty exciting to watch! Even Champy can't keep his eyes off them!

7. New to my baby-yoga repertoire: Downward dog

8. Soon to add to my general physical repertoire: climbing. Here I'm trying for a good foot hold to climb the television table, whilst watching Rage.

9. Yes - Mum and Dad still dress me up in various things. This hat is from Paw Paw and Kong Kong from their travels to Croatia. I'm the only kid in town who can boast a three tee-shirt collection specifically from the shores of Croatia!

9. Go Parra! They tried hard in the final...but just not hard enough to win the game. Dad was so excited it was like he had ants in his pants for days before the big game. When he screamed during the match I was a bit scared....but Mum told me it was screams of joy. There were almost tears though, when Broome had a blackout towards the end of the first half.

Dancing is in my blood!

Dad has found a song that I really enjoy rocking out too! Dad's also really relieved that it is The Living End and not Nelly Furtado or Beyonce!

Part 2:

(PS - sorry I still haven't figured out how to swap the orientation of the clip! Woo x)

It can't be October already!!!

What a whirlwind couple of months! We've been pretty busy up here in the North West. Mum went back to work for a couple of months, Dad went away for a couple of weeks, I met some new friends in child care, we've had visitors and I've even squeezed a short trip to Perth!

So sorry that updates have been a bit thin on the ground, but here's some 'catch up photos'. More to come shortly....I promise!

1. Receiving a gift from Grandma Mailer when they came to visit. Books rock!

2. Three generation Mailers in front of the computer 'skyping' with Aunty Kate back in Scone.

3. Some of the delightful sunsets that Grandma and Grandpa Mailer experienced.

4. Grandma Mailer gave me a hair cut before they left. What do you think of my 'new do'?

5. Dad went to Adelaide for work for two weeks and Aunty Jo came to visit over the weekend. I got sick that weekend, so we didn't get out much but on the Sunday before she left we did a Sunday session at Matso's Brewery.

6. Then I took a quick trip to Perth. Kong Kong and Paw Paw looked after me while Mum worked and did some dance classes.
(oh ok, we had a park catch up too!)

7. Uncy Dave and Aunty Jules came to visit too. They went up to Cape Leveque for a few days and then went on the Gibb River Road for a week. TOP TRIP! It was great to catch up with them. Mum and Dad definitely miss all their friends from the East Coast!

8. I'm really getting into investigating EVERYTHING around the house. Mum loves these two pics. The second one she loves because she is still obsessing about my feet and toes! Yep, there they are peeking out from under my bum-bum!

Bye for now!
